Finding the Real and Living Lord in the Local Church, Jayma Compton

My seeking for the Lord began while I was in college. Initially, according to my own evaluation of things my life was just like I wanted it. I had a close group of friends back home, a full social calendar, an interesting major and a direction that seemed to be satisfying. I thought everything was fine but in the first semester of my freshman year I began to have the realization that all the things I had chosen for myself were not as filling as I thought they were. So I began to seek for something.

I had grown up in a Christian family and had known about the Lord. My initial reaction was to fall back on that, yet I was also skeptical about doing that because in the past it had not been that satisfying.

The second semester of my freshman year I decided to meet with some Christians. By the Lord's arrangement and mercy I met two dear Christian sisters from the local church who helped to utterly revolutionize my whole concept and experience of what it is to be a Christian. Through them, I began to see and experience many truths in the Bible. Every time I met with them I got so much from the Bible. It was so enjoyable. I enjoyed this opening of the Word so much that eventually my once negative thoughts and apprehensions about the Christian life and the Lord Jesus were completely changed. By meeting with the local church, I came to realize the wonderful truth that the Christian life is the greatest one there is because we can enjoy the Lord!

The Genuine Experience of the Lord

Before I contacted the local church and the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I rarely had genuine experiences of the Lord. Once I began to read the books of these two authors and to talk with other Christians about them I learned how to contact the Lord in a regular way. This really changed my Christian life.

Over the past four years, the truths of the Bible the ministry of these brothers has given me are the resources I needed to continually experience the Lord and to go on in the Christian life.

The writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee have led me to Christ Himself, not to a mere principle or teaching. For that I am thankful.
